The back bone of any stud, Ecclestone Valley boasts having owned 4 superb 100% AMMD jacks, two imported from New Zealand and our new boy from Texas USA.
We were intending to keep just one jack Clovercrest Satchmo for our herdsire but with him producing such lovely babies in 2015 we decided we needed to bring in another boy to both compliment his babies and to help improve the gene pool in Australia. We found our boy at Quarter Moon Ranch in Texas thanks to Carolyn and Pete Christian. Half Dollar arrived in Australia in February 2016.
With Half Dollar’s impeccable conformation and wonderful disposition we feel Ecclestone Valley’s breeding program will absolutely continue to be enhanced. We intend for Clovercrest Satchmo and Quarter Moon Half Dollar to remain as Ecclestone Valley’s herd sires for many many years to come.

JUNE 2009…. I am so excited to announce the arrival of Satchmo to Ecclestone Valley. We imported him from the renowned Clovercrest Miniature Stud in NZ owned by Marion and Peter vanDijk. He has a star studded pedigree tracing back to the original Mediterranean donkeys imported into America on both his parents’ sides. He is a stocky drafty build and is a brilliant dark red – reds and blacks dominate his pedigree. Satchmo stands at 31 1/4 and displays the class and charisma of his father Cyder’s Spartacus who is son of the infamous Lazy Nissen Foxworthy (USA). My sincere gratitude to Marion and Peter for letting us have this magnificent boy.
UPDATE 2014…. Five years with us at Ecclestone Valley and Satchmo is proving his weight in gold. We couldn’t be more happy with every single one of his foals. He is throwing superb conformation fantastic colour and beautiful temperament. A boy to be proud of! We love you Satchmo.

There seems to be a trend here in that I take pride in our Ecclestone Valley bred stock. No exception is EV Antipodes (Tippy). We were able to secure him in September 22 and he has given us some superb babies since his return. A bit of a clone of his sire Chateau’s Texas Ambassador MB (Imp NZ) and out of the beautiful Cyder’s Red Violet (Imp NZ). It feels so good to be able to carry on the genes of both Ambassador and Violet.
We love his classic grey colour (greys seems to be disappearing lately) but he has the added bonus of carrying the red gene.

Sometimes we have to make decisions that we don’t really like.
Such a difficult time to have to part with Half Dollar but with circumstances at the time and with both our herdsires starting to age we found the perfect next home for him. Going to Sarah and Chris Hynes of Greenhills stud made parting with him that little bit easier.

Ambassador was imported from NZ to Ecclestone Valley In March 2008. He has a beautiful laid back and friendly nature and is a lovely classic grey dun with nice red colouring in his head. He is full brother to Chateau’s Texas Premiere- multi champion in New Zealand. His lines are invaluable to the Miniature Mediterranean gene pool being the only son of Country Music’s Marty Brown (Imp USA) in Australia. Jasper is a stunning little light sorrel jack. He stands at just under 30” at 2 years. Jasper gave us 4 stunning little foals in 2010. His sale was regrettable but necessary with our 2 new jacks imported from New Zealand.
