A miniature donkey is a donkey measuring 36" and under at the wither.

A Miniature Mediterranean Donkey is the name given by the ADMS (American Donkey And Mule Society) to a donkey which measures 36” and under at the wither. The name Mediterranean is used as these donkeys originate from the little donkey discovered on the islands of Sicily and Sardinia and which were imported into America in 1929. These donkeys have been bred with other types of donkeys in America and are now called Miniature Mediterranean.

American Miniature Mediterranean Donkey is the name given by the EIDSA (English and Irish donkey Society of Australia) and the Donkey and Mule Society of New Zealand to Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys imported from America into Australia and New Zealand and their direct offspring.

At Ecclestone Valley all jennies measure under 36” and carry American lines varying from 50% to 100% aiming at breeding quality miniature donkeys at affordable prices.

In 2008 we welcome two new breeding jacks to our stud -
Joy's Rock of Jasper - light sorrel - 30 " high at 18 months of age. And Chateau's Texas Ambassador MB - imported from New Zealand. Ambassador is the son of Country Music Marty Brown. Marty Brown has no other offspring in Australia. We look forward to meeting Jasper's foals in 2009 and Ambassador's foals in 2010.
